DownloadAbstract
This comparative study examines the landscape of Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) across four Global South countries: Brazil, Colombia, China, and South Africa. It highlights “AIED Unplugged” as a frugal, adaptable, and equity-centered design philosophy that enables offline-first, low-cost AI tools in contexts where connectivity, hardware, and digital skills are scarce. By analyzing policy landscapes, current practices, implementation challenges, and strategic recommendations in each region, the document demonstrates how contextually rooted innovations from the Global South can bridge the digital divide, foster inclusive learning, and guide sustainable pathways for global educational equity.
